The 2018 ranking of the best and worst states to start a business puts Wisconsin at No. 40 — not among the very worst but far from the best, according to WalletHub.

The 50 states were compared based on three key dimensions: business environment, access to resources, and business costs.

Wisconsin’s best showing, according to this study, was ranking No. 28 for business costs. Texas ranked No. 1 overall, while Hawaii came in at No. 50.
