On a 12–7 vote, the Madison City Council approved plans for a German-style beer garden at Olbrich Park beginning this spring.
According to media reports, the outdoor drinking establishment will be privately operated by BKM Group and offer music, beer, soft drinks, and snacks up to 51 hours per week.
The Olbrich Park Beach House will be upgraded and have a fenced-in area for 240 patrons.
Amplified music will only be allowed on Fridays and Saturdays, and last call will be at 9 p.m. with everything shut down by 10 p.m.
