Without warning, Regency Beauty Institute, which has been educating cosmetology students for more than 50 years, permanently closed all 79 of its campuses nationwide on Sept. 28, including its school in east Madison.
According to its website, the company says it does not have the cash to continue to run the business due to declining enrollment nationwide, a “negative characterization of for-profit education by regulators and politicians that continues to worsen,” and as a result, an inability to find financing.
Reportedly, the Academy of Beauty Professionals on Madison’s west side is working with the Regency office to assist students.
