Bar Corallini Chef Giovanni Novella is opening a new restaurant on Madison’s west side this fall, according to The Capital Times.

Osteria Novella will open as an independent restaurant, separate from Food Fight Restaurant Group — with whom Novella has worked for 10 years — in the Quarry Shoppes & Apartments building at 2903 University Avenue. The spot was formerly occupied by pizzeria Novanta.

Novella owns Osteria Novella with Evan Ackers, who is set to manage the front of house. Before opening Bar Corallini in 2019, Novella was the executive chef at Cento and then led Fresco at the Madison Museum of Contemporary Art.

Osteria Novella will offer an Italian menu that is seafood-oriented.

Construction on the new spot, led by Daniels Construction, is around 50% complete. The restaurant will have seating for 75 and a full bar.

Novella anticipates the location will be open six days a week, beginning with dinner service only.
