Shawn Bolduc, the owner and founder of the east side Madison cake business Baked Lab, plans to open the business’ first brick-and-mortar location this winter, The Capital Times reports.

The business has grown since 2019 through weddings, pop-ups and collaborations with other businesses such as Delta Beer Lab, Working Draft Beer Co., Crescendo Espresso Bar and Vitruvian Farms.

Baked Lab also currently offers baking workshops out of its east side studio.

The new storefront at 2044 Atwood Ave. will continue to sell cakes, cookies, bars and wedding orders, while expanding to offer plated desserts, espresso drinks and — pending permits — wine and beer service.

Baked Lab’s new home is set to open in early January on Thursdays-Saturdays to start.

The long-vacant building was formerly occupied by Wong’s Garden for 13 years and is near Bar Corallini, Table Wine and the Barrymore Theatre. It is now undergoing a full renovation.
