This past Sunday, a record amount of people and donations supported cancer research funding through UW–Madison’s Carbone Cancer Center, according to Channel3000. Attendees showed up to American Family Insurance’s headquarters for the Badger Challenge event, founded in 2016 by two doctors from the Carbone Cancer Center — Dr. Paul M. Harari and Dr. Deric L. Wheeler.
Over 3,300 participants from across the state ran, biked, or walked in support. Bike rides ranged from a 5K distance to 100 miles; running distances ranged from three to 13.1 miles. According to Wheeler, $925,000 has been raised so far this year, and a million-dollar goal is within reach. Donations are still being accepted on the Badger Challenge website.
