August home sales surge across state

The Wisconsin Realtors Association reports that home sales in August jumped 9% year-over-year, making it the strongest August since 2005.

Statewide, the median price rose to $170,000, which was 5.3% higher than the previous August.

In Dane County though year-to-date sales were down slightly, from 5,990 in 2015 to 5,960 this year. Dane County’s median sale price through August rose to $244,000, compared to $230,000 in 2015, a 6.1% rise.

Dodge County saw a 17.5% increase in sales, and Columbia County home sales increased by 10.1%.
