The Atwood Music Hall (AMH) will officially open tonight with a musical tribute to late Madison drummer Clyde Stubblefield and a fundraiser for WORT-FM, the Wisconsin State Journal reports. The new event venue, owned by the Bur Oak’s Toffer Christensen, has undergone an over $3 million renovation since its former days as a church and can now accommodate large standing gatherings of 400-700 people, or more intimate seated receptions for 150.

Tonight’s performances will include Funkee JBeez, the nine-piece dance band VO5 and Mama Digdowns Brass Band. Saturday and Sunday, there will be a show about late Madison comedian Chris Farley and the Madison Area Music Awards, respectively.

Roughly 95% of AMH’s first month of acts are Madison-centric.

In addition to its multiple bars, the AMH has a first-floor cocktail lounge, accessible bathrooms, a balcony with VIP seating and a basement with additional bathrooms, dressing rooms, a green room and a small prep kitchen for weddings or other events that require catering.
