Asthmapolis, a Madison-based medical technology company, has announced an agreement to provide its mobile asthma management product to Sharp Rees-Stealy Medical Centers in San Diego.

The company, which has raised $6 million in venture capital, told the Milwaukee Journal Sentinel that more deals could be forthcoming, including an agreement with Kaiser Permanente.

Asthmapolis is developing respiratory technology to prevent the incidence of hospitalization, the most expensive level of health care, for patients with asthma and chronic obstructive pulmonary disease, or COPD.

Its key respiratory management product is a sensor that attaches to asthma inhalers and provides information to smart phones on the time and location of asthma attacks. The product can be used by medical professionals to monitor possible triggers, detect patterns, and send medication reminders to asthma patients.
