Ascendium gifts Good Neighbor Grants totaling $1M to 20 nonprofits

On this GivingTuesday, nonprofit Ascendium has awarded Good Neighbor Grants totaling $1 million to 20 nonprofits across Wisconsin — including 13 in the Madison area — and throughout the U.S. Each nonprofit will receive a $50,000 grant to fund essential community projects, such as educational initiatives, workforce training programs, and support services for low-income families.

Employees were asked to research, nominate, and vote for 20 nonprofits to receive a Good Neighbor Grant. Each nominated nonprofit demonstrated dedication to community development, a proven track record of impactful work, and alignment with Ascendium’s mission to improve educational and workforce training outcomes for learners from low-income backgrounds. Among this year’s selected nonprofits from the Madison area are:

  • Aldo Leopold Nature Center Inc., Monona;
  • A Woman’s Place, DeForest;
  • Bayview Foundation, Madison;
  • Cottage Grove Volunteer Fire Department, Cottage Grove;
  • FairShare CSA Coalition, Madison;
  • Madison Public Schools Foundation, Madison;
  • Porchlight, Madison;
  • Simpson Street Free Press, Madison;
  • Sunshine Place, Sun Prairie;
  • The Rainbow Project, Madison;
  • The Village Diaper Bank, Madison;
  • Vera Court Neighborhood Center, Madison; and
  • Wisconsin Literacy, Madison.
