The U.S. Army has given Oshkosh Corp. a $294 million order for 2,500 military vehicles, according to a report in the Milwaukee Journal Sentinel.

It’s the latest order of U.S. Army vehicles, primarily used in Afghanistan, under the terms of a five-year contract that expires in 2015.

In addition, the company is still in the running for the military’s Joint Light Tactical Vehicle contract, which could be worth as much as $20 billion, the report said. The JLT vehicle contract would help the company maintain its current workforce if proposed cuts in defense spending materialize.

More than half of the company’s revenue now comes from defense contracts.
