Arbitrator orders Epic to pay overtime to technical writer

In an arbitration hearing, Epic Systems has been ordered to pay back overtime wages to a technical writer who had been misclassified as overtime-exempt, according to a release from Habush Habush & Rottier, the legal team handling the case for the writer. Many similar cases are currently pending. The Fair Labor Standards Act mandates that all employees be paid overtime — including salaried employees — unless their employer can prove they qualify for an exemption.
