Goodie Bag, a Colorado-based company with an app that helps small businesses salvage revenue, reach new customers, and reduce food waste, has launched in Madison and throughout Wisconsin, WMTV15 reports. The platform allows local businesses to sell food that is still good but would otherwise be donated or thrown away.
Customers are able to access items and pick them up for 50% or more off the original price. As the company name implies, customers get what they get; restaurants can offer savory or sweet options, disclose any allergies, and include a hint as to what the bag may include.
Briana Boehmer, co-founder of Goodie Bag, is a University of Wisconsin–Madison graduate. Goodie Bag has established partnerships with dozens of small shops and restaurants throughout the city and state. Additional information is available here.
