The Verona Area Community Theater is in the midst of raising funds to build a new facility to accommodate its youth theater program and its efforts just received a big boost.

An anonymous donor pledged a $100,000 matching gift challenge grant. For every two dollars raised, the donor will make a matching one-dollar gift between now and the end of February 2016.

With the potential to raise an additional $300,000, VACT could reach its $1.6 million project goal and break ground in March.

The new facility, located adjacent to the Military Ridge State Trail, will feature a 150-seat theater, as well as three rehearsal rooms, a scene and costume shop, and a lobby with a concession stand.
