Anchor BanCorp Wisconsin Inc., the parent of Madison-based AnchorBank, said Tuesday the bank posted a much narrower net loss of $7.4 million, or 35 cents a share, in the fiscal fourth quarter ending March 31, compared to a net loss of $21.7 million, or $1.02, in the same quarter a year ago.
AnchorBank fared slightly better in the full fiscal year, losing $50.4 million, or $2.37 a share, an improvement over the $54.5 million loss, or $2.57 per share, in fiscal 2011.
The bank, which has been trying to recover from nonperforming real estate loans, also added less to its loan-loss reserves.
