American Family Insurance has made a $5 million gift to United Way of Dane County in recognition of the nonprofit’s 100th anniversary, according to a release from American Family. The gift is the largest single corporate gift in United Way’s history and was made possible through a corporate challenge grant established by American Family CEO and Chairman Jack Salzwedel before his retirement. The grant pledges two $2.5 million gifts to be matched by other corporate partners in Dane County. The gift will support the following resources:

  • United Way 211, Dane County’s most comprehensive database of agencies and services that connects more than 40,000 residents each year to resources; and
  • United Way Volunteer Resource Center, connecting prospective community and corporate volunteers to opportunities that match their interests.
