Madison-based American Family Insurance announced that it would be cutting 200 IT positions in favor of a French consulting firm, according to a Wisconsin State Journal report.
Capgemini, with most of its employees based in India, can provide 24-hour IT services across most time zones, which benefits AmFam’s employees and customers.
Most of the affected workers are in the Madison area and will have three weeks to decide it they want to apply for new positions at either company, but AmFam says the cuts won’t happen for at least three months. Those choosing to leave will be offered severance packages.
