Bucky Badger needs you to donate blood.
The American Red Cross is teaming up with the University of Wisconsin-Madison for Bucky’s Blood Drive on Jan. 28-29 at the Nicholas Recreation Center located at 797 W. Dayton St.
The Red Cross is facing a severe blood shortage as requests from hospitals exceed the available supply of blood. Donors of all blood types, especially those with types O, A negative and B negative blood, are urged to give.
All participating donors who give blood from Jan. 26-Feb. 28 will receive a $20 e-gift card to a merchant of choice. Donors will also receive a Red Cross T-shirt and a coupon for a free slice of Ian’s Pizza.
“Donating blood is one of the simplest and fastest ways to make a lifesaving difference, and the need is especially critical right now as we face a severe blood shortage,” Kyle Kriegl, executive director of the Southwest Wisconsin Chapter of the American Red Cross, said in a statement. “Bucky’s Blood Drive gives the community a powerful opportunity to step up together and help ensure patients get the blood they urgently need.”
