Paramedics and EMTs have been denied access to $100 million in federal CARES Act funding designated by Gov. Tony Evers for EMS and long-term health care providers who incurred significant unreimbursed costs related to the pandemic, according to a statement from the Professional Ambulance Association of Wisconsin.
EMS services were initially eligible for assistance from the state as part of Wisconsin’s nearly $2 billion allocation from the Federal CARES Act but the advocacy group said the Department of Health Services, in developing the rules, cut out support for local EMS providers.
