The battle for satellite supremacy just heated up as Amazon said it would spend $11.57 billion to acquire Globalstar, according to CNBC.
Amazon is in the process of building a satellite internet business called Leo, which would compete with Elon Musk’s SpaceX. The deal will give Amazon Globalstar’s existing satellite assets.
The company also announced it would provide satellite internet service to Apple products.
Amazon hopes to launch its service beginning in 2028.
