Madison’s Plan Commission on April 7 approved the conversion of an Amazon distribution center into a facility housing the city’s largest set of indoor pickleball courts, according to The Capital Times. The current building at 5004 Tradewinds Parkway would become a 28,000-square-foot pickleball facility in response to the sport’s recent growth in popularity.
The facility would be a franchise of Maryland-based Dill Dinkers Pickleball, a chain that has seen rapid expansion since opening its first location in November 2022. The Tradewinds Parkway facility would be its first location in Wisconsin.
The new facility would offer private court reservations and open play, both with required registration. It would also provide pickleballs and paddle rentals. The facility plans to charge hourly for court use and offer annual memberships.
Renovations and court installation will reportedly begin after Amazon’s lease ends in May, and the courts are anticipated to open in late summer or early fall.
