Over 200 call center workers in Cross Plains will lose their jobs when Allstate Insurance Co. closes the center at the end of the year. The announcement came as a complete shock to Cross Plains Village Administrator Matt Schuenke, according to reports. Allstate’s notification to city officials cited technology improvements, declining claim counts, and efficiencies as rationale for the closing, which will result in 214 lost jobs. The Cross Plains facility will be Allstate’s only call center to close. The company has eight others around the country that will add 110 jobs. Cross Plains has a population of just over 3,000 residents.
