Alliant Energy announced that it is seeking donations to its Hometown Care Energy Fund throughout the holiday season. The assistance program provides up to $500 per eligible household to help with heating and cooling costs. Assistance stays local; the program distributes funds within the county from which it receives them.
Alliant Energy has dedicated $2 million to kickstart donations for the heating season. Customers may make one-time donations or add a specified contribution to their monthly bill.
The program typically distributes funds to:
-
Households that meet Low-Income Home Energy Assistance Program (LIHEAP) income guidelines;
Advertisement -
Individuals over 60 on a fixed income with no alternative source of funds;
-
Individuals who are disabled and unable to be economically self-sufficient; and
-
Special hardship cases not limited to income, age, or LIHEAP eligibility.
