Alliant Energy Corp. on Wednesday announced that Antonio P. Smyth will join the company in the new leadership role of executive vice president of power generation and gas strategy, effective April 7.
Smyth will be responsible for the operation and performance of Alliant Energy’s power generation assets, as well as the execution of strategic projects to support development of new generation resources to support system reliability and large-scale growth. Smyth will also lead Alliant Energy’s gas strategic planning, engineering and compliance, as well as be responsible for the company’s facility and supply chain organizations.
Smyth recently served as executive vice president-grid Solutions and government affairs at American Electric Power (AEP). Smyth led the origination and strategic planning of AEP’s multibillion-dollar infrastructure investment programs across electric generation, transmission, distribution and telecommunications. In addition, he oversaw the company’s federal regulatory and compliance activity at the Federal Energy Regulatory Commission and four Regional Transmission Organizations. He was also responsible for the management, operations and financial performance of AEP’s transmission joint venture utility companies across the U.S.
