Alliant Energy vows no coal by 2050

In its 2018 Corporate Sustainability Report, Alliant Energy Corp. pledged to stop burning coal to generate electricity by 2050.

Patricia Kampling, chairman and CEO, stated, “Our plans enable a 40% reduction in carbon emissions by 2030 and an 80% reduction by 2050. This includes eliminating all existing coal by 2050 and investing in wind energy, which will supply nearly a third of our capacity by 2030.”
