In the first Community Grant cycle of the year, Alliant Energy and the Alliant Energy Foundation awarded over $715,000 to various causes and nonprofits across Wisconsin and Iowa.

Community Grant recipients seek to make an impact in Alliant Energy’s four focus areas: community safety and engagement, environmental stewardship, workforce readiness and hunger and housing.

Over $114,000 in grants will cover 33 communities looking to make improvements for emergency services organizations, including police and fire/EMS departments as they plan for new or upgraded equipment. Support will also be provided to initiatives that bring communities together such as special events like fairs and building playgrounds.

20 communities providing resources like clothing, household items and food pantries, including food delivery and meal outreach programs, were awarded over $102,000 in grants. Organizations focused on emergency shelter support, transition and permanent housing and transportation were also included.

Nine communities received over $355,000 in grant funding to protect wildlife spaces and prairies and plant trees. Alliant Energy also supports public education, workshops and school programs focused on environmental issues, endangered species and wildlife protection, and updated park and trail projects.

To aid in the development of a solid workforce and attract future employees, over $140,000 in grant funds were awarded to 25 communities for youth agriculture programs, school gardens, farm education and innovation, libraries and bookmobiles, STEM programming, workshops and festivals.
