A growing number of Wisconsin employers are exploring self-funded health plans to gain more control over rising health care costs.
The Alliance added more than 100 new employer-members in the past year, marking one of the largest membership increases in the organization’s 35-year history. Currently, it has over 500 employer-members and covers over 123,000 lives.
Collectively, The Alliance’s employer-members bought more than $1 billion in health care in 2024 and saved more than $480 million. That marked more than 41% in savings for employer-members and their employees and families.
To keep up with the increasing interest in self-funding, The Alliance has been working to grow its provider network of more than 150 hospitals, 9,300 clinics and 36,000 doctors and other practitioners in the Midwest.
