Allegiant Travel Co. on Wednesday closed a deal to acquire Sun Country Airlines, CNBC reported.

The Las Vegas-based airline in January had announced its $1.5 billion cash-and-stock agreement, including debt, to purchase Minneapolis-based Sun Country, although the brands will remain distinct for now.

Allegiant said the combined carrier will serve around 175 cities with more than 650 routes.

The news comes after Allegiant reported a $42.5 million profit for the first quarter of 2026, up 32% from one year earlier.
