Aldo Leopold Nature Center launches $3M campaign

The Aldo Leopold Nature Center (ALNC) announced the launch of its $3 million Building Our Legacy: Sustainability Now & Into the Future Campaign. The campaign will focus on three areas:

Equitable education initiatives

  • Funding low- or no-cost programs to bridge financial, language and transportation barriers;

  • Supporting Nature Net: The Environmental Learning Network; and

  • Providing equitable staff compensation to aid retention.

Capital improvements

  • Installing multi-language interpretive signage;

  • Replacing a boardwalk, outdated roof and solar panels;

  • Restoring trails, docks and bridges for accessibility; and

  • Upgrading Science on a Sphere and the Immersion Theater climate science exhibits.

Access for future generations

  • Growing the endowment fund to annually support access initiatives.

With gifts from the W. Jerome Frautschi Foundation, the Pleasant T. Rowland Foundation, the Oscar Rennebohm Foundation and Diane Endres Ballweg, the campaign is 89% fulfilled. ALNC has $341,000 left to raise.
