A report in the Cap Times highlights the continuing difficulty of getting a job in the video game industry, with AI a barrier.
According to the report, an industry survey of 3,000 industry members found that nearly half of the developers surveyed are using generative AI tools.
The industry continues to have widespread layoffs, with Madison’s own Raven Software hit with layoffs earlier this year.
The Cap Times cites a Wired report detailing how AI is leading to a loss of jobs in the video game industry.
The report also states that some smaller studios, like Madison’s Filament Games, find AI useful as a tool, but the idea of taking away human agency in development, especially art, is a negative one.
