The owners of Williamson Street’s Ahan restaurant are set to open a new bar across the street, Madison Magazine reports. The new spot aims to accommodate Ahan’s waitlisted guests and is expected to open by mid-August.
Jamie Brown-Soukaseume, Ahan’s executive chef and co-owner, said that the bar, Ba Lao, will offer drinks and a few dinner selections in the space vacated last year by Taco Local. During the day, Ba Lao will serve a grab-and-go lunch menu and boba tea drinks.
Since Ahan opened in its current location at 744 Williamson St. in October 2023, the southeast Asian-inspired restaurant has seen consistently high demand, with frequent customer overflow.
