CuddleCot, a specialized cooling device allowing for more time with babies after their untimely death, will be available at Agrace’s pediatric hospice program soon, thanks to a donation by The Jack Pack, a Janesville nonprofit founded by a family who experienced infant loss.
The temperature-controlled bassinet slows natural changes after death, allowing families to spend up to several days with their recently lost loved one.
“This donation ensures that families who experience the loss of a baby can choose to spend more time together in a peaceful, supportive environment,” Dr. Hilary Bingol, Agrace’s medical director, said in a statement. “That time can be incredibly meaningful in a family’s grieving process.”
The Jack Pack was created in memory of baby Jack, who was stillborn in September 2015. Since then, Jack’s family has donated numerous CuddleCots to local hospitals to help give other families the gift of time.
Agrace will receive the CuddleCot on Dec. 4.
