Melissa Agard on Wednesday was sworn in as Dane County Executive, according to WMTV15. She has previously served in leadership roles on the Dane County Board and in the state Legislature.
Agard received 60% of the vote in the November general election, overcoming opponent Dana Pellebon. Her priorities as she assumes the new position include:

Urban and rural environmental protection;

Public safety; and

Economic development.
Agard will serve simultaneously as county executive and state senator until the conclusion of her Senate term on Jan. 6, 2025.
