Dane County Executive Melissa Agard officially proclaimed June as Dairy Month, honoring the role of dairy farmers and the dairy industry in shaping the county’s economy, culture and community.

Dane County is home to approximately 170 dairy farms and around 150,000 cows, making it one of the top milk-producing counties in Wisconsin. The county also hosts the World Dairy Expo.

Wisconsin’s dairy industry contributes over $50 billion annually to the state’s economy and supports more than 120,000 jobs statewide.

Throughout June, Agard is encouraging residents to participate in dairy-focused events, such as farm breakfasts and educational tours, and to support local dairy producers by purchasing Wisconsin-made dairy products.
