Just after the Wisconsin Supreme Court struck down Gov. Tony Evers’ safer-at-home order, Dane County put a similar order of its own in place, according to a public health announcement.

Public Health Madison and Dane County’s order puts state Emergency Orders Nos. 28, 34, and 36 in place for the county with the named exceptions covering religious entities in order No. 28. The orders will stay in place until Tuesday, May 26. According to the county order, “violation of or failure to comply with this Order is a crime punishable by fine, imprisonment, or both.”

Several other Wisconsin localities have also followed suit with safer-at-home orders of their own, including Rock and Kenosha counties and the city of Milwaukee, among others.
