Years after the COVID-19 pandemic began, some Wisconsin hospitals will receive reimbursement from the Federal Emergency Management Agency, Wisconsin Public Radio reported.

$5.4 billion in funding was awarded nationwide, with $41 million going to facilities in Wisconsin, including $20.8 million to Aurora Health Care in eastern Wisconsin, $4.8 million to the University of Wisconsin Hospitals and Clinics in Madison and $2.7 million to Ascension SE Wisconsin Hospital in Milwaukee.

The grant money awarded will cover the cost of contracted medical staff and supplies, the expansion of facilities — such as testing tents used to test for COVID-19 — and more.
