The 10th annual AFRICaide and Women & Wellbeing in Wisconsin & the World (4W) International Women’s Day event will take place at east side Madison’s Christ Presbyterian Church on Saturday, March 9, according to Madison365. AFRICaide is a grassroots nonprofit that works to reduce poverty in Africa through rural development projects and supports women and girls who are victims of rape in the Democratic Republic of Congo.

This year’s event, with the theme “Inspire Inclusion,” will include morning engagement sessions, hands-on activities, lunch, networking, music, and more. It will also feature discussions with community members engaged in improving conditions for women locally, nationally, and across the globe.

A keynote address will be delivered by Dr. Linda Vakunta, and six Trailblazer Awards will be presented to honor the achievements that Madison-area women have made on a global scale.

Women are encouraged to wear purple in honor of International Women’s Day.
