Aerospace strife sends markets lower

Wall Street trended lower in premarket trading early Thursday, the Associated Press reports. Futures for the S&P 500 and Nasdaq each fell 0.5% before the opening bell, while futures for the Dow Jones Industrial Average slid 0.7%.

Boeing shares tumbled more than 8% after Air India said a London-bound flight crashed shortly after taking off from Ahmedabad airport Thursday with 242 passengers and crew onboard. Boeing has been mired in financial and regulatory trouble for more than six years as a result of two prior crashes.

Oracle climbed 8.5% after the software maker beat Wall Street’s sales and profit targets and raised its forecast.

In energy trading early Thursday, U.S. benchmark crude oil lost $1.32 to $66.83 per barrel. Brent crude, the international standard, shed $1.30 to $68.47 per barrel.
