The Wisconsin Supreme Court ruled against Adams Outdoor Advertising and in favor of the city of Madison in a legal battle over billboard sight lines brewing since the city erected a bicycle bridge over the Beltline in 2013.
Adams asked for compensation, arguing that the new bridge blocked the view of its west-facing sign and thus negated “all economically beneficial use,” of that sign location, according to a Wisconsin State Journalreport.
The court disagreed on a 4–3 decision, agreeing with an earlier ruling from a Dane County circuit judge and the 4th District Court of Appeals that the company does not have a right to visibility.
Adams has filed similar suits against local governments recently, including one that is still pending with the city of Fitchburg.
