The former Mautz Paint properties in the 900 block of East Washington Avenue will see a $16.5 million redevelopment after the Plan Commission approved final plans for the site. What developer Curt Brink originally proposed nearly a decade ago — a $250 million vision for a 27-story tower including condos, retail, grocery, and 3,200 parking spaces — has been significantly scaled down to a plan that will demolish three buildings and add a five-story addition to the vacant Kleuter building. An additional building and underground parking could be added later. The project is being eyed as a technology hub that would serve emerging firms and startup companies. It now moves to the Urban Design Commission.
