Near east side Madison restaurant A Pig in a Fur Coat will close Sept. 26, the Wisconsin State Journal reports. The establishment at 940 Williamson St. opened in 2012.
Owners Daniel Bonanno and Bonnie Arent plan to turn the space into another location of the Italian deli, sandwich and specialty shop Alimentari, which they own with Bonanno’s brother, Enrico Bonanno.
The three opened the original Alimentari at 306 S. Brearly St. nearby but closed it in December after six years because the landlord sold the one-story property to make way for a large apartment development.
They opened a larger, near west side Alimentari at 2623 Monroe St. in February after 15 months of planning and remodeling.
A Pig in a Fur Coat has around 15 employees, who have been offered the opportunity to work at Alimentari, although the owners do not yet have a timeline for when the new spot may open.
