A 90-day pause on higher tariffs on Chinese goods is set to expire Tuesday, the Associated Press reports. It is unclear whether or not the pause will be extended.

Following the most recent round of China-U.S. trade talks, which were held last month in Stockholm, Chinese and U.S. officials said they expected the deadline to be extended another 90 days.

The U.S. side said the decision lies with President Donald Trump, but so far no formal announcement has been made on whether he will endorse an extension or move forward with the higher import taxes.

Businesses are in limbo as a result of the uncertainty, and a decision to implement the tariffs could shock world markets.
