Charter communications will invest $668 million in a multiyear initiative to expand broadband availability in unserved communities in Wisconsin, according to a statement from the company. The company will deliver gigabit high-speed broadband to approximately 143,000 unserved Wisconsin homes and small businesses, many in rural areas of the state, by investing $500 million and using $168 million in support from the FCC’s Rural Digital Opportunity. The effort is part of the company’s expected investment of approximately $5 billion to expand Charter’s network to an estimated 1 million homes and small businesses in lower-density, mostly rural communities across 24 states that do not have access to broadband service of at least 25/3 Mbps.
