$23 million in broadband access grants spotlighted

Gov. Tony Evers highlighted six projects across Wisconsin that will receive roughly $24.5 million in grants to expand fiber broadband internet, according to a release from the administration. The projects will bring internet to more than 3,400 residences and 200 businesses that currently are unserved or underserved in Crawford, Sauk, Iowa, Richland, and Ashland counties. The projects are funded by the American Rescue Plan Act (ARPA), which is providing grants to 83 projects across the state. Applicants who were not selected for ARPA funding are encouraged to apply for the State’s Broadband Expansion Grant Program, which is currently accepting grant applications until March 17, 2022.
