Local artists are invited to apply for several open artist residencies available through The Bubbler at Madison Public Library in 2024, according to the city of Madison. These paid positions range in length and take place at various library locations throughout the year. Many involve creating and leading workshops for library visitors, as well as offering open studio hours for the public to see and engage with artists’ work. New and emerging artists, teaching artists, and artists who are enthusiastic about engaging with the community should apply.
Available positions include:
- 2024 We Read Bubbler artist-in-residence (nine positions available);
- Pinney Studio artist-in-residence (one position available); and
- Bubbler Room artist-in-residence (two positions available).
The Bubbler is also looking for a new round of exhibitions for library spaces. The current round of exhibitions will wrap up mid-summer, with selected artwork from the Open Call for Exhibitions being installed between summer 2024 and summer 2025.
Applications close for all open opportunities on Monday, March 4. All artists will hear back about the status of their application by April 29. The residencies and exhibitions will be chosen by a panel of current library staff and past resident and exhibiting artists.
The Bubbler Artist-in-Residence program is supported by donations from the Evjue Foundation and Madison Arts Commission. Bubbler exhibitions are supported by Dane Arts and Madison Public Library Friends’ groups.
