A 17-year-old boy was arrested Wednesday for the robbery of a Janesville gas station after a citizen provided a tip, according to the Wisconsin State Journal. A search of the boy’s residence followed.

Police responded to Lion’s Quick Mart at 104 E. Racine St. for a robbery at about 8:35 a.m. Wednesday and were told a male had entered the gas station, demanding merchandise and threatening that he had a gun. He subsequently fled on foot.

At around 7 p.m., officers were sent to the 600 block of South Franklin Street by a citizen who told police they knew the robber’s identity. The suspect was found at a residence in that block and taken into custody, and a search warrant was drafted. The search of the residence uncovered evidence of a robbery and a gun.

The boy faces tentative charges of armed robbery. Anyone with additional information is encouraged to provide a tip.
