12 Madison-area shops celebrating Independent Bookstore Day this weekend

Madison will celebrate Independent Bookstore Day this weekend. The April 25 event, back for its 13th year, is part of a nationwide initiative by the American Booksellers Association.

More than 2,000 nationwide bookstores — including 12 in Madison — will recognize the day. 

Molly Fish, owner of Lake City Books, helped organize the first local Independent Bookstore Day three years ago, Madison Magazine reports, and said the event encourages community members to shop locally for books.
