Madison’s oldest community center is set to undergo redevelopment, WMTV15 reports. The Neighborhood House Community Center is one of Greenbush neighborhood’s few remaining original buildings.

The 107-year-old building has been housed at its Mills Street location for decades, providing social services like after-school care, transportation assistance, food pantry access, and community events.

A brand new facility will take the current one’s place, thanks to a partnership with The Alexander Co. The five-story, 16,000-square-foot facility will include four stories of affordable housing and allow for expanded programming — especially for the arts, fitness, youth, and events.

The organization is seeking an interim space to use during construction of the new space. A capital campaign is underway, with an anticipated 2025 groundbreaking.
