Officials from Dane County and Madison Black leaders are partnering to build a south side business hub for minority-owned businesses, and Dane County has fronted a $100,000 grant to begin the process, according to a report by The Journal Times. The effort is modeled after the 2016 Sherman Park project in Milwaukee and hopes to give minority entrepreneurs a place to grow their businesses.

The grant will fund a one-year project planner position who will perform a site-selection study, develop operational, financial, and business plans, engage stakeholders, and identify prospective tenants.
