A $1.5 million Transportation Economic Assistance (TEA) grant announced on Monday by Gov. Tony Evers and the Wisconsin Department of Transportation (WisDot) for the village of DeForest will support road construction for the new Kwik Trip distribution center, WMTV15 reports. The project will support almost 400 regional jobs.
The new facility will reduce distribution costs, decrease consumer prices, and diversify the La Crosse-based company’s production and delivery options. Road construction for the project will expand Metro Drive, North Towne Road, and Pepsi Way on the west side of the village.
The TEA grant comes among several announced statewide. The Evers administration has awarded over $11.9 million in TEA grants over the past five years, helping create at least 2,200 jobs.
